Maruti Alto 800 Expert Review
Exterior:
The design of the Maruti Alto 800 is simple and really turns head over. The front gets tiny shaped headlamps and has a smoke finish to them. The bumpers at either end are thin and don't protrude out from the body. The protected strip in black color is an optional accessory not as a standard. The side profile has a faint character line running across the car which lasts at the rear end into the large tail lamps.
Interiors:
The fit, finish and quality of the material is better than previous Alto. There are a lot of storage space in the cabin. The central console houses air conditioning dials, AC vents and space for the music system. The compact tachometer and driver information housing looks stylish and fresh. The steering wheel is 3 spoke unit which is precise and nice to hold. Maruti offers the Alto 800 in two interior color combinations i.e, gray and brown. In the rear bench of Alto 800, space is nothing to talk about. The rear seat can accommodate two people, but fitting three occupants in the rear can be bit of a squeeze. There are no storage spaces for the rear seat like bottle holders, pocket holders. It is only comfortable for shorter commute in the city.
Engine and Performance:
The Alto 800 continues to be powered by older FAD engine found in the previous Alto. It produces 48 PS of power with maximum torque of 69 Nm. It is mated with 5-speed manual transmission. It also offers CNG variant. Both petrol and CNG cars are adequately peppy to drive in the city. Alto 800 does not get ABS, EBD, and other safety features, however, driver airbag is optional in Lxi and Vxi variants. Now talking about the ride quality, it does soak the bumps pretty finely and broken roads don't really dirt the Alto. Coming to the steering, it is the nice and light and is comfortable in taking U-turn and park in the tight spot.
Verdict:
You get what you pay for Maruti Alto 800, with a mouthwatering price tag under the shade of 3 Lac. Maruti Alto 800 is value for money proposition.
